Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name (has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness---trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never). Psalm 91:14 Amplified Bible
In the verses before this one in Psalms 91 the writer was talking about those who take refuge in The Lord and made Him their dwelling place. People who not only did that but set their love upon God as well.
To God the promise He made to such people was that He would deliver them. All they had to do was set their love upon Him.
Too often in life we are careless where we have chosen to set our love. We set it on objects that can't love us back. We set it on the first person who pays attention to us. We set it in a dark corner some place afraid of getting hurt. We set it on personal gain instead of fulfillment and satisfaction. We set it on ourselves instead of others as God would want us to do.
No, we need to learn to set our love on God. To put it on Him and our personal relationship with Him. To put it where it needs to be with God, on God, directed towards God. A place where our knowledge of God flourishes as we lean on and get to know Him better and better. A place where we will never be forsaken. No, not ever.
Set your love today on God. There's no better place to leave it.
