Spiritually Treatable

Howdy everyone, I'm hosting "In Other Words" please join us!

It’s important we don’t get so caught up in our earthly suit that we miss our eternal heritage. Wayne Corderio

Over a month ago when I chose this quote from Wayne Corderio’s weekly teaching what caught my attention was the use of the word “suit.” It made me think of the season of Christmas and how we get more caught up in the “Santa Suit” than we do the true garment of choice, our eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately between then and now a lot has happened and now my focus on this quote takes my mind in a different direction. Recently I was diagnosed with bone cancer with cancer spots on my liver and possibly in my breast. For the last week and a half tests have been done, doctors visited and fears and tears have surfaced. The focus for this time was strictly on my “earthly suit.” What did life have in store for it? Was it ruined? Was it going to survive? Had it been taken to the cleaner one too many times?

As all things pointed to the areas of my body where cancer was found it was hard not to think of anything but my earthly suit. Back pain, pain in hip, pain in my rib, pain in my breast all were grabbing for my undivided attention. Everything I did reminded me of what I was carrying around inside of me.

As much as our body may be crying out for the attention it needs it never gives us the excuse to ignore our spiritual well being. Many times before Christ cured people of their physical ailments He addressed their spiritual issues as well. Years ago Christ cured me of the epilepsy I once had. I made up my mind I was going for the cure and I did. I don’t know if I will be so blessed as to be “twice cured” but it really doesn’t matter.

What matters is focusing on our spiritual heritage, the one that is the same today as when we first inherited it unaffected by cancer, moths, erosion, or disease. The good news for me today was my bone cancer is caused by a type of breast cancer that is treatable. The liver spots they thought were cancerous are no more.

The good news for all of us is the fact that our problems that often get in the way of our spiritual heritage or well-being are treatable. Treatable thanks to the one whom Christmas is all about, Jesus Christ. It’s not a season about Santa suits or earthly suits but of our treatable disease called sin made right through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We never get a say in the matter of what kind of breast cancer we may wind up with but we do have a say in what kind of condition our spiritual heart is in. Sin may be a deadly disease in the long run but its one that can be conquered. It’s up to us by the attitude we carry and the efforts we put into it whether we will be “treatable” or not.

Thanks to the Lord we all are spiritually treatable. The choice is ours, the decision is ours. Looking back over life and seeing how God has cured me of my epilepsy and my spiritual shortcomings in life I guess I’d have to say He’s already cured me twice!

Twice cured and more to go! Praise the Lord, I allowed my heart to be spiritually treatable.

In love WITH Jesus,

Karen or Karing as my sister calls me
