Why is it that what we have is never good enough for us? We want what others have and we are never happy with our own. We can’t blame it on today’s society because Adam and Eve suffered from the same disease. In the medical business they would mark that down as “family history” of. Family history of greed, discontent, selfishness, pride, and other emotions all mixed into one pot.
We need to learn to be content with what we have and use it to the best of our ability. Anyone with a good voice had to learn how to do it properly. They developed what they had and practiced it diligently. Same with any gift we have. You take ownership of what you have and develop it, using it to the best of your ability.
Trying to be like others because you think they are better than you is a type of “singing with a borrowed voice.” God gave us various gifts and talents, He gave us the voice we have and we need to use it for Him. It doesn’t matter if we can sing like a canary or croak like a frog it’s what we do with what we have that is important.
As I’ve said before it was always my desire to sing. As a kid I tried really hard to develop my singing voice but it just wasn’t there. All the singing talent in the family went to my kid sister eight years later. I could borrow all I wanted but it just wasn’t going to work. It was almost thirty years later when I discovered the voice God had given me. It was the voice heard through my writing. I had to learn to open my own gift instead of looking over at what others had.
The point is we need to take what is given us and use it properly. Use it to the glory of God and the benefit of others. We need to stop wasting our time wishing we had what others have. To borrow means you don’t have ownership of it, you eventually have to give it back. To “have” means it’s yours. Claim your ownership, develop your talents, and open your own gifts.

What a joy it is when we find our voice and are able to use it for God's glory. So glad that you found your writing voice! I've been blessed by it many times. Thanks for joining the conversation today.
